AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, addressing students at the Venezuelan University of Communication and Information, emphasized the weakening of U.S. hegemony while condemning misleading portrayals of Iran and Venezuela by global media.
According to IRNA, during his speech on Monday, Qalibaf expressed his admiration for Venezuela, describing it as a revolutionary and resilient nation. He stressed that for Iranians, Venezuela is not merely a geographical location but a symbol of perseverance, dignity, and resistance against oppressive forces.
Paying tribute to Latin American revolutionary figures, including Simón Bolívar, Hugo Chávez, and José Martí, Qalibaf drew parallels between Iran’s history and Venezuela’s struggle for sovereignty. He recalled Iran’s Islamic Revolution 47 years ago, noting that despite immense pressure from global superpowers, the Iranian people chose independence and freedom.
“Our nation refused to align with either East or West,” Qalibaf stated. “We did not surrender to America, nor did we rely on any other superpower. We stood firm in our pursuit of self-determination.”
The Iranian speaker underscored the significance of cooperation between Tehran and Caracas, pointing to shared struggles against foreign intervention and efforts to uphold national sovereignty. His remarks reaffirmed Iran's solidarity with Venezuela, highlighting both countries’ commitment to resisting external pressures and fostering mutual support.
